Oxford Area Team Tops First Chester County Viewers Choice Vote

The team from Oxford Area High School topped the Viewers Choice vote in the inaugural Dream It. Do It. PA Chester County student video contest.

Teams from seven high schools in Chester County created contest videos and fan voting took place on the web at DreamItDoItPA.com from March 29-31.

The contest used the format of the flagship Dream It. Do It. PA Lehigh Valley contest, titled What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? The teams were provided with video equipment and training and matched with manufacturing companies and teacher coaches. Teams created short video profiles of their companies and the career opportunities they offer.

The contest’s Outstanding Editing Award was won by West Chester Henderson High School. The Outstanding Videography was won by Phoenixville High School, and the Outstanding Cool Awards was won by Downingtown STEM Academy.

The Chester County contest’s year-end celebration took place on the campus of Penn State Great Valley on Wednesday. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf provided a video greeting for the event to congratulate the student teams.

The first Chester County video contest was produced by the Manufacturing Alliance of Chester and Delaware Counties in Exton, Pa. Malvern Savings Bank in Paoli, Pa., was the contest’s Gold Sponsor.

Dream It. Do It. PA is a partnership directed by the Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) in Allentown, Pa., and is dedicated to changing perceptions and attitudes in the Keystone State about advanced manufacturing careers. Dream It. Do It. PA started in 2013 as an effort called Lehigh Valley Skill Up to raise awareness in the Lehigh Valley area. The popularity of the partnership’s flagship student video contests and its rights to the national Dream It. Do It. brand for Pennsylvania have enabled it to expand its reach throughout the commonwealth.
