Dream It. Do It. PA Video Contest Effort Expands to Pittsburgh Region

2016 Pittsburgh Video Contest
The Dream It. Do It. PA Student Video Contest format has been adopted by an economic development organization in Pittsburgh, and voting for the region’s first contest begins Monday, Feb. 8, 2016.

The Catalyst Connection – a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping small manufacturers in southwestern Pennsylvania improve their competitive performance – introduced its contest, titled Explore the New Manufacturing in Oct. 2015. Using the format created by the Dream It. Do It. PA partnership in the Lehigh Valley Region, the contest provides video equipment and training to teams of middle school students and matches them with manufacturing companies and teacher coaches. The teams create short video profiles of their companies and the career opportunities they offer. The 2016 Pittsburgh regional contest features teams from ten school districts.

The Dream It. Do It. PA partnership will host online voting for the Pittsburgh contest’s Viewers Choice Award at DreamItDoItPA.com from Feb. 8-12, 2016. The Viewers Choice Award will be one of the awards given during the Catalyst Connection’s Annual Manufacturing Reception.

Dream It. Do It. PA is a partnership directed by the Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) in Allentown, Pa., and is dedicated to changing perceptions and attitudes in the Keystone State about advanced manufacturing careers. Dream It. Do It. PA started in 2013 as an effort called Lehigh Valley Skill Up to raise awareness in the Lehigh Valley area. The popularity of the partnership’s flagship student video contests and its rights to the national Dream It. Do It. brand for Pennsylvania have enabled it to expand its reach throughout the commonwealth.
