Chester County Group Joins Dream It. Do It. PA Effort
Manufacturers and schools in Chester County in southeastern Pennsylvania have joined the Dream It. Do It. PA movement and will host their first student video contest on the Dream It. Do It. PA website.
The Chester County partnership is led by the Manufacturing Alliance of Chester and Delaware Counties, part of the Chester County Economic Council.
The Chester County student video contest will follow the format established with the flagship Dream It. Do It. PA video contest in the Lehigh Valley region, titled What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? Teams of middle school students are provided video equipment and training and are matched with manufacturing companies and teacher coaches. The teams create short video profiles of their companies and the career opportunities they offer. By improving the image of these careers and creating awareness for them, the contest not only aims to sustain manufacturing careers, but aims to help them thrive.
Awards will be given for outstanding student videos, including a Viewers Choice Award, as determined by a fan vote on the Dream It. Do It. PA website.
Dream It. Do It. PA is a partnership directed by the Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) in Allentown, Pa., and is dedicated to changing perceptions and attitudes in the Keystone State about advanced manufacturing careers. Dream It. Do It. PA started in 2013 as an effort called Lehigh Valley Skill Up to raise awareness in the Lehigh Valley area. The popularity of the partnership’s flagship student video contests and its rights to the national Dream It. Do It. brand for Pennsylvania have enabled it to expand its reach throughout the commonwealth.
